The blocky, unappealing design is meant to evoke the pixellated mess of "mode 7" graphics the console was known for. There is nothing sleek about the excessive use of hard edges, which calls out to the 2.68 mhz CPU that struggles and chugs at even the slightest hint of action. The use of off-shade lavender purples and greys not only reminds one of the muted and off-shade colours the console typically exhibited, but also the muffled audio. 10/10 design, it perfectly matches the system!

Adjusting for PAR
I assume many people here know this trick:
256 x 8 = 2048
224 x 7 = 1568
2048x1568 yields a DAR of 64:49 which is about 1.306:1
Close to 4:3(1.33:1) but not quite

But there are other resolutions you can use such as:
1408x1078
2816x2156
etc.

This way you only lose 2/4 lines at the top and bottom within a full 1080p/2160p output which is nothing
I have seen some anons here posting emulator screenshots using 1408x1080 stretched vertically without those black lines which results in an aspect ratio that is a bit too thin

The same technique also works on 256px wide Genesis games of course

>inb4 some idiot says they were 4:3
Wrong
4:3 is too fat and incorrect
I am sick of people parroting it when it is obviously wrong
The correct DAR is 64:49 which is close to 4:3 but not quite and you can easily achieve this by using the aforementioned resolutions

These give the exact same DAR as 2048/1568 and you only use 2 to 4 pixels at the top and bottom

>NES: 1400 games
>SNES: 1750 games
Why is it so much harder to find decent SNES games?

Gen X hated it, millennials loved it, and gen Z is back to hating it again. What happened?

Please be realistic when reminiscing about this platform.
