The Newer gens are so streamlined, that almost every Pokemon has a 4x weakness to SOMETHING, and can be one hit killed. They're so sophisticated, attacking is no longer a viable move, let alone tactic, with status effects and rapid switching being the only way you can actually win. The only way the games could be streamlined further is if they removed HP and defense values entirely, and make the game like Dive Kick, except you have three options: attack, status move, or switch.

It is no longer about rock paper scissors in terms of both Pokemon and tactics.
