Metroid just has the added thing of exploration which all what it really does is change the player from progressing through linear levels in the other games to exploring a single world to progress the game.

Are Skyrim, The Witcher and Dark Souls not action RPG's because they all are functionally different from one another? No they are still the same genre only with certain differences. Same thing here with Metroid you autistic whiny neckbearded manchild virgin. Take Contra or Metal Slug gameplay and put it in a single large explorable world level and you get literally the same thing as Metroid. The only real true huge difference between the games is either levels or level.
