Dont be afraid to sometimes use a custom resources (such as monsters) as a change of pace, just dont turn it into AeonsOfDeath. Look at the /pol/ map (even if it's semi joke).

The best example would be bosses, there are plenty of cool boss type monsters that can be used, I think most players are over fighting Icons of Sin.
