>kalinske removed Altered Beast because it sounded like "satan worship"
>renames console to Genesis (like in Bible)
>console sells like hotcakes
>Japan launches Saturn
>sounds very much like "Satan"
>console flops
memes aside… did this matter?

I recall when it came out, it was acclaimed by mags / reviewers. When the DS port came out, I tried it, and maybe it starts slow, but it just felt a bit boring and not all that funny.

How hard would it be to make a hack of a game like Earthbound? I just want to rebalance the game to make it harder and involve more tactical thinking, maybe edit the dungeons to make them more interesting. I can't code that well, but I had a little bit of coding experience in C++ back in uni. Should I just give it up and leave it to autists?

>90% of games (5th gen and under) can be emulated even on old phones
>10% of games (6th gen) can hardly be emulated even on top of the line flagship phones
what a weird & sad state of things

I have a lot of nostalgic sentiment for GBA, but recently I realized I hardly can remember that many great games for it. Half of the games I played back in the day were either
1) SNES ports
2) cut down fighting game ports
3) "you had to be there" games like Ecks vs Sever, V-Rally, GT Advance, LotR2, etc.
the rest was just the stuff everyone knows, your Castlevanias, Megaman Zeroes, Metroids, Pokemons, Kirbys, WarioWares, Mario & Luigi, Wario Land 4, with a few gems here and there like Rhythm Tengoku or Guru Logi Champ. I know a bunch of good ones I never got to play like Shining Soul and Golden Sun series, and also Ninja Five-O and Drill Dozer, but that's where my knowledge of good GBA games comes to end.
am I missing something?

it's obvious that GC had very little 3rd party support, arguably worse than N64. but why didn't it improve at least slightly? N64 obviously alienated many devs because of the carts, but GC at least had mini DVDs (I mean, those aren't ideal, but not like they're unusable or every game needed 4.7 gigs). It was also easier to develop for. of course, PS2 was looking way more popular and thus profitable to develop for, but not like anything prevented devs from making games for both. even Saturn was getting 3rd party games until Bernie S. pulled the plug on it.
did they just think that GC no longer was profitable to make games for after disappointing sales of N64 in Japan? or did Nintendo still keep its old draconian policies for devs? and did mini DVD matter THAT much after all?

and Sonic CD is the best of the franchise by far.
