Does anyone else remember N64 games that detected the color of your attached controller? I vividly remember at least one game where this was a feature and I thought it was common knowledge, but I'm having a hell of a time finding it documented anywhere. It seems there's just no information anywhere about it. I only vaguely remember that it was a hockey game that I actually saw it work with my own eyes, but I'm sure I saw it.

The real mind-blowing revelation is when you realize that with exception of gold, ALL colored cartridges only came in either Black, Green, Red, Blue, or Yellow - the same colors as all the controllers & controller buttons. They never deviated from those plastic batches.

No system had a better color motif going for it than the Nintendo 64. With the six base colors of Gray, Black, Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow, these colors could be found on:
-The controllers and their buttons
-The sides of each N64 game box
-The game cartridges that chose to go with a colored shell.

Rare exception to Gold, which also had controllers, cartridges, and even the console itself in that color in rare occasions. Anyway, this was theme marketing done right, and it defined a whole era in gaming.
