is great for laying out such a great base, but it lacks polish in terms of difficulty balancing. It can be very, unforgiving.

adds tons of polish and expands the concept, but some of weapons are unbalanced, and there are some big flaws like a couple of situations where it's impossible to avoid dmg unless you know of it beforehand, or the entire CPU boss that requires crashbombs.

could have been amazing, but it's an unfinished state and it shows; The initial 8 stages are amazing, but it all goes downhill from that point. The Docbot stages make it feel like a drag, and I already mentionned about broken the Docbots could be. Then, Wily stages are short, uninpisred, and most of them even use the same bg graphics iirc.

is the most fair, balanced and polish of them all. Its flaws? Not many, like I said not enough projectile based enemies... and Toad Man.

is the worst, by far. It's still a good game, but it's a painfully average MM game. The entire game is based on an overpowered charge shot, locking the player out of using other things, and turning him into a power house. Add to this uninspired enemy design (both in terms of art, and gameplay), ultra flat level design, lame bosses that are pretty much all on the level of Toad Man...

does a great job at feeling fresh again. The "all around the world" concept works well, in art, theme and music, and the Rush Adaptor suits are really fun to use. It has a lot of attention to detail, but ultimately it's too easy and suffers from the "lame bosses" syndrom of 5.
