The day at the botanical garden had mixed weather. Light rain when we arrived, alternating clouds and sunshine during the late afternoon and slightly overcast during the early evening, when I took that last pic.

Thanks. Somebody wrote on this board once that you shouldn't change brightness/contrast settings at all, which is far from true. Outdoor shots can easily be over/underexposed depending on the subject. Often the "auto exposure" will adjust to, say, the bright sky and leave everything else underexposed. The tunnel in pic related would be entirely black with standard settings due to the bright light at the end of it.
I adjust contrast/brightness for most of my shots to see what settings will get me the most detail on the objects I'm most interested in. Shots like >>5753287 are only possible with both lowered brightness and contrast, which can work wonders on overexposed outdoor shots.
