This is completely random but I should also mention I actually experienced the Parodius games on SNES first, long before trying the superior PS1 and Saturn versions. It's not bad if you're just getting into shmups but it can be difficult imo unlike Cotton 100% or the TwinBee games. Although it's been mentioned multiple times, Umihara Kawase is really great, and while I'm not a huge fan of Rockman and Forte it does have a nice OST. There's some other weird curiosities like SNES Columns and Gourmet Warriors, but they're not really essentials.
