I just got back from a very interesting trip to pick up a 19" rack I bought on eBay.

The place I got it from was a business manufacturing and selling data duplication equipment (cassettes, CD/DVD/BluRay, USB, hard drive etc) but they've understandably found the market for these devices shrinking over the past decade or so and are winding down. The place will be cleared and probably bulldozed for residential development

Now what's really cool is that back in the 80s they bought their premises from a manufacturer of flight simulators (proper pilot training ones) and had an absolute fuckload of parts for these. What especially caught my eye were tons of CRT monitors ranging from 13/14" ones - likely 15kHz capable given their vintage - through 20" BVM-type ones (with pull-out control drawers, they didn't say Sony but were very similar in look to 2011s etc) right up to 25-27" bare tube and chassis units, new in box.

I told the guy I would be back when I had more time to check them out properly and possibly save them from landfill if I can organise some storage.

Sorry no pics as I was in a massive hurry and understandably overwhelmed to be in such an Aladdin's cave but I promise I will follow up soon.
