Nobody ever plays both original script and translated one and then compare them line by line. So even if it's true that it's abysmal, more often than not someone who's saying it is just talking out of their ass.

Even if it's a bad translation it's not going to be so terrible that the story somehow becomes incomprehensible. Even with machine translation you can kind of get the gist of a story even if it's fucking up some of the details or puns. Just embrace that translations are inherently flawed or learn moon, but don't let yourself become so autistic that somehow it's going to impede from you having fun.
