nah, i think is opposite, while the field of view is the gba resolution (240x160), the "box room" format seems to be framed at a more standard NES/SNES dimensions, which along the smaller sprites makes the areas felt gigantic, i noticed this during rooms where you move only fron leftt to right, some of em when you jump you get more view area with the camera following you.

By contrast, HoD restrains the "square room area" to the gba screen with a few pixels extra vertically, making the areas more crammed, plus HoD castle was smaller, now Aria pretty much become the middleground.
