I've learned to like everything if it looks good. Pixel art, blocky models, Dreamcast-tier models.
Dragon Ball Hyper Dimension is a beautiful game as are Tobal 1, Threads of Fates, Chrono Cross, Virtua Fighter 1, 2 and 3, Garou, Street Fighter 3, Dr Slump, Golden Axe...

It's easier to say what I don't like: games with no defined style. Tekken 1 being one of the worst offenders. Or indie crap.
Or how the styles have been reduced to stupid bastardizations.

Now pixel art is remembered just as NES games, SNES RPGs or Capcom arcade games, but we had plenty of different styles in retro games. Yet indies can only produce this weird pixelated games with modern effects and fucked up clashing resolutions.
Blocky models became just untextured models or Square FF games. But indies can only shit memepoly games, with untextured models and modern shading.

I think Goran Parlov designs are good on the paper, but would look like this >>4067395 >>4061682 in 3D. I can almost picture a low poly Barracuda looking like this. Although it may work, perhaps, in a style tailored for small scenes like that Hokuto no Ken Playstation game.
It needs do have the right amount of curves and edges.

>The Tobal no. 1 thread and Dragon Ball PSX shots in this thread really made me appreciate Akira Toriyama's designs.
So go take a look at the Playstation Dr Slump game. You will love it. As it is based on the Dr Slump remake, the designs are actually by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, who also did Dragon Ball GT, but he does a great job in emulating Toriyama style.

I know. Hanna-Barbera and Warner are a mixed bunch. I like how "Sheep, Dog 'n Wolf" looks too, but most Looney Tunes characters have too many curves, and their eyes have volume, while anime eyes are big but mostly flat on the face.
Almost every Disney movie design is tricky to model and animate efficiently in low poly.
You know what would look good in 3D? Old UPA cartoons. But they also have a problem. They are too simple and TOO 2D, being tailored for the cheap TV animation.
Although anime style is basically simplified stylized designs for cheap animation, they used many different camera angles, and the characters were created for such, while western cartoons were stuck to the same shots everytime. So many characters designs were intended only for a side view. I bet Mr Magoo would look good, while Pink Panther's "Little Man" would look bad, or at least, would only look good in one angle.

Most people here are posting games that they like or games that looked good at the time they were released, not games that STILL look good.
