It had a lot of Genesis ports. Maybe a good 40% or 50% of the library is literally that. Even Sonic 2 was going to get a SEGA CD port at one point which is part of what led to Sonic CD

SEGA CD version has a phenomenal soundtrack. As for the games themselves I'm too dumb for the main series but I did enjoy what I played of Ecco Jr.

I really think people have a tendency to confuse SEGA CD with Saturn, or just disregard it entirely. It has some truly great games despite lacking the 32-bit power of the Saturn

The SEGA CD soundtrack is beautiful. Sadly you are right about the gameplay, but Ecco Jr. is still okay I guess.
