Well, let's take a look at it like this.
The average enemy has four walking sprites, one pain sprite, three melee/missile sprites, about six-eight death sprites (let's do an average of seven), and sometimes there's xdeath and different melee sprites but let's skip this.
15 sprites with five angles each, that's 75 individual sprites. With 18 different monsters in Doom, that's about 1,350 total sprites. Very roughly speaking, of course.

Let's say you can do one beautifully hand-drawn sprite, shading and everything, in a day. You will take over three and a half years to finish the monsters alone.
And this is why there are so few monster sprites in the community, even for TCs.

I'm desperately trying to avoid thinking about this for my own TC/game, so fuck you for making me do the math.

Hey brother, hope you're still around to see this. I've been using a FW900 as my primary monitor for years.

>How is the latency?

Basically zero. Even with v-sync enabled, I don't notice any latency.

>How well does GroovyMAME & GroovyMESS handle with it?

Haven't tried this, sorry.

>How well does Dreamcast via VGA & Micomsoft boxes like the XRGB series handle on them?

Dreamcast looks great on it. The large screen means that the scanlines are very visible, even at 480p. There's no blur whatsoever, so 2D fighters can look awfully pixelated, which might bother some people. Can't comment on the XRGB.

>Besides the usual sources, where in the hell can one find these?

I got lucky and found on one craigslist. I've seen another one pop up since then, too. You could post a wanted ad on CL or even the local paper. You don't want to order one on eBay for obvious reasons.

>Isn't there a 4:3 version of this monitor under a different name?

There are a few high-end Trinitrons, yes. Some of them are branded as Dells. Don't let that put you off. If it says Trinitron in the upper left corner, it's legit.

>sn't shipping out CRTs dangerous?

Yes. It's also prohibitively expensive. Don't do it.

I spent $100 on mine and haven't regretted it. If you can find one for around that price, jump on it. 1920x1200 at 85Hz and zero lag is heaven.

The short of the matter is that the Kharon's sheathe fires out a wide spray of +SHOOTABLE projectiles which are +SOLID and act as a barrier--a much more advanced version of the Kharon's own blocking ability. The enemies are normally immune to this damagetype, but custom enemies don't have resistance against this damagetype and ergo take a whole extra ton of damage.
It's the same deal with using Brutal Doom with custom enemies, you're able to kill them just by flipping them off.

Also the server is using an outdated version of DemonSteele, most of the Skulltag enemies are patched in the update. I don't know why, but the admin says they're trying to force a crash so ???
