Difficultly spikes and lowers and spikes and lowers. Then you get past that one part and it's babies first strat game till the end

i ignored this as a kid because i assumed it was a supplement for getting good at Final Fantasy and not a standalone game

i also ignored the numbered Final Fantasy games because i hadn't played the previous ones and i assumed there was serialized continuity

I just beat this game. Played ~ 10 hours of FFT Advance before this but this experience was WAY better. Can't even compare the two games both in storyline and depth of gameplay.

1. Sad that Ramza never rejoined party I liked having him
2. I basically played the game for Cloud and he ended up being a useless 5th party member. Way too late in the game for me to be building up teleport + ninja skills + etc for him.
3. Orlandeau is broken.
4. Items are broken.
5. I did not delve into arithmetics although I wish the game was hard enough that it forced me to.
6. Laughably easy end game. Very odd difficulty spikes in the game...very odd. I had to grind twice, and almost got trapped on Gaffgarion until I discovered you can open the gate. 1v1 against Gaffgarion with his hp absorb is too hard without preparation.
7. I ended up going Monk as Ramza, and Monk carried me through most of the difficult mid level areas. Discoved Monk / Ninja combo on my own and basically the rest is history.
8. Did not delve into Gender / Zodiac sign and wish the game was hard enough that it forced me to.
9. My party was a lot more dynamic and interesting mid game compared to end game. End game I just basically went Ninja spam and Orlandeau obviously makes almost every encounter trivial.

What a great game. It'll prob be even more fun my second go around since I didn't try so many things. I just wish grinding the Chemist items was less ridiculous.

What's the appeal of FF Tactics? I've heard it's one of the best FF Games but it didn't look too special from the snippets of gameplay i've seen.

Why does no one talk about this game anymore? I used to see a lot of people saying it was one of their favorite JRPGs of all time. Is it fun? I was reluctant to try it because I heard you can get soft locked in one of the bosses.

This game is unnecessarily hard. I'm still at the beginning of the game.

I'm going to play Final Fantasy: Tactics (PS1) for the first time. What am I in for?

What are strategy RPGs and how do they differ from turn-based RPGs?

I'm mostly here for the story. Is it as good as people say? I'm a sucker for heavy politics-driven tales and worldbuilding with faction wars and whatnot. I've heard people don't like the new translation for how flowery and Ye Olde it is but I can only imagine something like that would add to the appeal.

Oh, it's not even close. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift pale in comparison to the first Final Fantasy Tactics/War of the Lions. I understand why they made the first Final Fantasy Tactics Advance the way they did, they were trying to appeal to a younger audience and had to work within the confines of the Gameboy Advance hardware. But Final Fantasy Tactics A2 is a joke, they should've made it more like the original Final Fantasy Tactics on Playstation, and could have with the better hardware more close to the Playstation's capabilities. Also, the original audience for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was older by then and likely had played the first one, thus being accustomed to the game's mechanics. It should've been way more serious and challenging. Instead, it's a sequel that's arguably MORE kiddy than the first one. It might be the most squandered potential of any RPG game series, and is a perfect example of a series that peaked with the first entry.

Has anyone made a hack that puts the PSP script into the PS1 game?

I want to like this due to how hyped it is but it's so slow and clunky. What am I missing here?
