I'd say it needs more.

I mean, just see what happened after Apple let major emulators on their store and emulation in general got more popular, we lost Vimm's Lair in a flash, and now the Internet Archive's looking like it won't last long either.

The less people and demand there is, the better.

It's definitely good, though I was really looking forward to finding more 3rd or 4th generation titles that go from 10 to 20 minutes like those few I've mentioned, since I really like this kind of length to get from start to finish, it's just very comfortable for me nowadays for some reason.

If everyone I'm playing with is on board to play a alternative rule set to monopoly, and we think it can be fun, then why not? What if these rules we agree on, that aren't the OG ones, make it so we have fun, it'll turn into a "game we actually like" I think... one example is, most people play UNO in a way that's very different from what the manual says, especially the "+4" cards, and they enjoy it.

I can play something else, but if something can be a lot more fun with changes, why would I not do it? I just don't get why you care so much about what others play and how they do it... it's simple.

I love these dark end screens where it not only tells you that you've lost... but the consequence of it too, it adds to world building and immersion to whatever you're playing, I wish it was more common instead of simpler screens we got.

Friday the 13th on NES did something like it.

Indeed, I also used the filters and scanlines that KEGA Fusion offered and liked the result on my laptop, with that 1366x768 resolution most still have even today, and I liked it, it works just fine.

Of course 4K and even 8K if you have access to it will make it look better... but not a requirement.

What are some good looking and/or accurate CRT shaders for lower end laptops or tablets? What I'm talking about is stuff like 4GB RAM maximum, and a a quad-core processor, or an octa-core one with the strongest cores being around 2,4GHz, also average/weaker chipsets.

Also, we're talking 11' to 13' screens without something like 4K, so 1080p at the very best.

I genuinely adore video games that I can see ar not very good when trying to look at them with no bias involved, while there are some I can see are classics, and why they're beloved, but they don't click with me for whatever reason, it's odd.

Well, us all having such different preferences and discussing it all is what makes it fun though.

Well, it depends, since you're using standalone emulators then naturally that'll depend on each emulator and how they handle shaders, mGBA is pretty much just like RetroArch for it's LCD ones, though I found RetroArch easier to switch between them to choose which one I wanted, the UI was just better for me, though I know many might disagree... it'll depend on the emulator.

Still, just asking, why is it that you don't want to use RetroArch? I started using it a few months ago, got the cores of the standalone emulators I used and it's been quite seamless for me so far.

We used to do this thing called "git gud" and it worked out, I definitely recommend it, OP... so, jokes aside that's what we really did, we often had a few cartridges anyways, and these titles were made with this arcade philosophy of this real grind to them... but trust me, it's really so satisfying when you pull it off, they're usually short titles anyways, and it's so fun to see how we've improved when a video game that felt a little too impossible is suddently a 15 run we'll do with our eyes closed, it's part of the fun. I'd keep trying if I were you, it'll be truly worth it.
