Zoom zoom here, is this worth playing after black mesa?

What do you personally think it improved upon from the “doom clones” of the early 90s? I remember playing it in 99 and after playing it, I never wanted to touch games like Duke Nukem ever again.

I really don’t think Half Life is that good
>gameplay is extremely linear with little opportunity for exploration
>bare bones plot
>not much in the way of a consistent ost unlike doom for example
>too many set pieces
>some annoying level design

Can we discuss the best shooter and best overall video game ever made? I cannot think of a single flaw with Half Life. It does everything better than just about any game.

I bought Half-Life on sale recently. It's my first time playing one of these older shooters. I've been playing it like I was told you play old shooter; meaning you are on the offensive and running and gunning.n

Do people honestly believe this game's multiplayer is good and not a poorly balanced spawn raping frag fest where you use an overpowered weapon to fly all over an empty, badly designed map while taking no damage?

Daily reminder that fps fans hated half life at the time. this game and counter strike were the cod and halo of their time.
