/vr/ - Retro Games

Why do people prefer the original Doom to Doom II? I don't understand it. Doom II is surely objectively better:

>Super shotgun
>Much bigger and more complex levels. Arguably far superior level design. Doom was mostly corridors while II also had wide open spaces and much more variety in general.
>More textures etc
>Many more enemies which mix the gameplay with their attacks. Facking chaingun guard, rocket skeletons, Archviles, Plasma Arachnids, Mancubus, etc.
>Dat Icon of Sin
>Entirely subjective, but I preferred Doom II's music

I mean they are both obviously splendid games but I don't get why somebody would prefer the first. Please explain.

No idea what that is and google links me to a heavy metal band, but the way i fix those colors in all my retro games is right-click on desktop, click on Screen Resolution and a new window pops up. Leave it open and go back in the game.
