The OP image and the description OP wrote both clearly very clearly refer to the Mario Bros 2 everyone outside of Japan was first exposed to. Japanese Mario Bros 2 didn't feature turnips and wasn't called a black sheep or not a real Mario game. Mario Bros 2 outside of Japan was called that because it literally wasn't a real Mario game and instead was a rebranded Doki Doki Panic, in much the same way Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine was a rebranded Puyo Puyo.
That said though I like non-Japan Mario Bros 2. It's not really Mario but it's an entertaining game. Japanese Mario Bros 2 is fine too, although less interesting and more of a straightforward followup to Mario Bros.

What video games do you slack off at work with?

I've got nestopia on my computer as I find simple Nintendo games are pretty good.

Tetris is good for if things are really slow, but not great because having to pause and comeback when the speed is fast can be tricky and ruin a game.

Tetris Attack is a little better, but I honestly just suck at it and get my shit pushed in by the Frog levels.

I find my favorite is Dr. Mario. Until I get around stages 15-20, pausing isn't an issue and it's a good chill time killer.
