It is a Series X mid-gen refresh for developers that want to take advantage of the extra horsepower. It can still play all the regular games if you want to.

Aldynes was the system seller for me. Like Sega, NEC/Hudson also "reprogrammed" some Capcom games just because it was the loophole to get around the contract Capcom had with developing for Nintendo.

It's not bad, but subject to grinding for some coins for upgrades. Unlike the original Capcom arcade, it does not have co-op but just a single player campaign which you can choose either character with their unique attributes.

With the current exchange rate, I really do want to revisit Japan. Unfortunately, I didn't win either of the last few large Megamillions and Powerball drawings. I hope to in the near future.

Yeah, in those days they weren't clamoring for Pac-Man nor Space Invaders which in theory is possible to be near arcade perfect on the Genesis. The system did struggle with Outrun, but it might be able to do Pole Position. I still feel it was a shame they nerfed the color capabilities of the Genesis so much that games had to be demaked to run on it.

I think Face did Double Dragon 2, not Sega. It is a damn shame the Genesis couldn't do an arcade accurate Double Dragon, since that was one of my most favorite 80s arcade cabinets I played in those days. I had to wait until to the GBA to get a Double Dragon game that was the experience I was looking for from the series.

I think of it more like a "mid-gen refresh" like the Xbox One X or New 3DS. Aldynes was the system seller that convinced me to give it a chance and I was pretty happy with it. It was for those like me that got in on the system a little later than the original's launch.

It is the horrible burden of keeping these old gaming consoles. Without the technical support around, they are destined to die. That's why the news of the Analogue Duo is so big to me, so the games can continue to be enjoyed.

Aldynes was the killer app that made the system worthwhile for me. It was pretty exciting in its day as it outperforms the Genesis. I do wish the system had more support than it got.

These are very old systems, and capacitors will need to be changed eventually. That's why I am hoping to save up for the equipment to practice. I got mine from Japan a long time ago, but I don't see any corrosion, or I may not have a keen eye to notice. When I bought the SuperGrafx back then, it was a used item, but it was from the main shelves and not the junk bins so it is still in immaculate condition. I haven't kept up with how eBay sellers operate for showing boards, but I don't think there is much variation to the boards so I would not expect any different revisions due to the low sales of the system. As for the SD-System^3, I just tried it with Battle Ace, and it just boots the HuCard as if the attachment were not there (aside from the RGB output from it).

SuperGrafx games have a cardboard sleeve to protect the case. The HuCard labels are also printed "upside down" as they are inserted into the Supergrafx the other way. It is a clever method to distinguish SuperGrafx games from regular TurboGrafx games.

The repros of Sapphire are sold out from what I can tell, and when they are available they are still expensive. How come the other Arcade CDs work for you and detect the appropriate system card but not Sapphire if you have the Arcade Card in your system? I have a few theories, but most of them stem from user error.

1.) You're using the Turbo Everdrive to load the Arcade Card bios, which the Everdrive does not have the RAM.
2.) You've mistaken bi-compatible Arcade CD games and they're running in Super CD mode with less animations.
3.) You are using the wrong arcade card. There's the Arcade Card Pro for the base PCE/CoreGrafx1+2 paired with a non-Super CD-ROM CD-player addon. The other is the Arcade Card Duo for the Super CD-ROM or any of the TurboDuos.
4.) User fried the ram chips in the Arcade Card

No, it does not add the additional hardware, but if there's room on the FPGA chip, maybe someone can verilog in the extra hardware to run a SuperGrafx core. Maybe newer editions will have that.
