I remember even other media players at the time were touting skins as well. Features like being able to have different layouts/shapes for various media controls to adapt for different designs. Still remember when .mp2 was briefly the audio format before I fully dived into the .mp3 format as it was the latest and greatest.

Are you the anon with the full bookshelf of R18 games that I am jealous of? It is no secret I am a huge fan of Elf, Leaf, Aquaplus, etc. in those days. I remember in the late 90s, they were converting their old high-res 16 color pixel art to windows full 256 color games, yet still preferring the latter. Elf games had the characters which appealed so much to me in those days.

I have a lot of old games I remembered that support 98. Also it is not just for games, I even enjoyed messing around with the interface customizations like screensavers and silly desktop toys.

Most of them were on the old CD-ROMs. The fansites of yore were amazing. I still have the doujin window sitters with the EVA characters because they were so integral to my old Windows experiences. That's why I really got to get to building the J-Win98SE machine one day.
