/vr/ - Retro Games

My first time playing Doom 2 as a kid was pant-shitting.
I had no trouble shooting the zombies. I went to that little part with blue potions in the first map and I didn't notice the Imp before.

Grabbed some potions, turned around and...
Let's say I didn't touch the PC for a week.
Funny how I play Doom daily now.

I love Doom, but I can't stand repetition and a lot of FPS games from the 90s seem to have that. Every single FPS game from the 90s which I've played are almost exactly like Doom. Are there any out there that aren't like Doom?

So, what are some awesome pre-millennium FPS games I may have missed out on? Only top tier games need apply. Games I have played and fucking loved include:

Doom/Doom 2/Final doom
Douk
Quake/Quake 2/Quake 3
Unreal/Unreal tournament

Any others of note? I don't class Thief 1/2, System shock 2 or Deus ex as FPSs for obvious reasons, although they're still exceptional games.
