This is the saddest excuse for a humor thread I've ever seen, what happened? You niggers are usually hilarious in the console war and bait threads.

Yeah dude Capcom released MML1 first with the intention that you wouldn't actually play it until 2 years later when Misadventures of Tron Bonne came out

You gain nothing from playing a spinoff prequel before the original title. No exceptions.

Sort of related, but I remember I got the FF Anthology collection on PS1 and my brother and I were wowed by the FMV cutscene you unlock when you beat the game (we had grown up on the SNES version, which didn't have that, obviously). Then my brother goes and calls my dad to show it to him, especially the part where Kefka gets hit by Alexander's attack, which was admittedly pretty cool at the time, but holy shit was I cringing when he did that.

Well, I guess it technically is. I was thinking primarily about battle mechanics, balance and bugs, so whatever.

Jesus fucking Christ. This is why I never ever bothered with fullblown RPG ROM hacks until FFVI T-Edition. Most fans can't write for shit and have the self-awareness of a chimp.

Lots of reasons. It's been known since forever ago that Woolsey didn't deliver the most faithful translation, not to mention all the censorship, which is why we got that old Sky Render fan translation over twenty years ago (that we now know to be amateurish as fuck). Then the GBA game came out, and its translation was recognized to be much more accurate, but it had two problems: first, by that point, Woolsey's script had obtained meme status, and while the GBA script kept some of his lines, it changed or tossed enough of them out to piss a vocal part of the fanbase off. Second, the GBA version had problems of its own, namely shit music, slowdown and lower resolution, among others. So now you have a bunch of Woolsey fanboys who like the idea of a more accurate script while still staying true to the Woolsey "flavor", all on the mostly superior SNES version, and before long, we got the Ted Woolsey Uncensored hack. Problem is, its creator didn't know a lick of moon, so all he did was mix and match bits and pieces of the Woolsey, GBA and Sky Render scripts as he pleased, and to top it off, he decided to also make it an overarching "game improvement" hack that fixed a gorillion longstanding bugs and added QoL changes. This effectively set the mold for all like-minded hacks that followed, all of which were made by people with no nip-speaking credentials, and all of which were convinced they could do it better than the last, especially given they're not constrained to just script changes, but outright game changes as well, so every new release is just feature creep. It's telling that it wasn't until like last year that we got a simple, no frills port of the GBA script to the SNES version.

tl;dr autism and one-upmanship

What the fuck are you even saying? Not even a survival horror fan or anything, just saw this in the catalog and was flabbergasted enough to have to comment on it. Christ.
