No he's right, that was one of the worst games you could have picked given what the thread is supposed to be about.

I'd suggest learning to do it yourself. If any have been they would just be the few most popular. From the sounds of it you'd like to be able to compare a bunch of different games to see what varies. Someone's gotta do it though!

This is probably the best answer.

I give a special nod to Budokan which is close to great, but not.

Budokan no question.

I've been into these games since before it was even really a genre and like a number of them. And sorry but calling spamming fireballs an impenetrable defense waa real funny.

>you're a typical geek who can't discern the massive aesthetic difference between conceptually ambitious Western eye-raping junk and pure timeless NES beauty. It's why you're easy to please when some guy shits out hideous conceptually novel Flash trash like Braid,

Lol I'm an artist by trade and didn't like anything about Braid. Good try I guess?

That time when fighting games suddenly became a phenomenon and everyone was scrambling to learn every little thing they could to get an edge... Ohh yeah those were the days. I spent so many years yearning for a big sequel to Budokan that was like a real fighter, but alas was never to be.

There's really no reason to play a Genesis port of any fighting game. Weaponlord is probably the best since it's at least not a downport but its also janky and kinda shitty.

Personally I think it's Budokan, which is still very interesting to play. But it's also so different from Street Fighter it's rarely even thought about in the same breath.

I'm more of a Sega fan than anything, you're just a retard who can't even start a conversation without childish fanboy trolling.

This. I never heard bitching this concentrated about it till this board.

Overall I think it represents a trend. People don't like learning new things, and old games with unusual tend to get ignored because of it. Back when these games were new it was more common to have to wrestle with the idiosyncrasies of each weird control scheme. But now most people want to play something that feels familiar and having to deal with something like Landstalker or Budokai is seen as a chore more than a fun challenge.

Sort of. As I see it them tanking with Spirits Within was what forced the merger, and it's just that Squeenix never ended up being nearly as good.

That game is awesome. It just has a very unusual control scheme and most people looking at a screen expect a typical fighter, which it isnt at all.

>Is the game "hard" or "not hard by any measure" based on your reasoning?

That's a game which is not hard. Or at least I wouldn't consider hard. I guess you can disagree, but tome a hard game is still challenging even with practice and knowledge. >>4812305 for example.

Nope.
