Anyone know of any Amiga & C64 games that are actually worth playing? I have a preference for Japanese games from arcades, consoles and computers like MSX & X68000 since I feel the games there are more polished and interesting.

On the C64 side, I liked Super Pipeline, Mayhem in Monsterland, and Real of Impossibility. With Amiga kinda liked Turrican 2 but I feel the game is a bit too flawed and not as polished as Super & Mega Turrican.

Any genre is fine, though i'd like to keep it locked to exclusives. Arcade/console to PC ports are fine if they have any real significance to them.

Is there a /vr/ discord server? I saw an invite link a while back but it had expired.

No such thing as "looking like a game". Games used to look the way they did because there was no practical alternative; current 2D games, including this remake, look the way they do because they can. It's as simple as that.

It's been a while since I've seen anything like "Just like a cartoon" being used to promote a game; in fact, attaching the phony "Classic Oldschool Pixel Art Look!!!" badge to your game is WAY more common nowadays.

Before Symphony of the Night, Wonder Boy III for the Master System/Game Gear was an installment in a series of games which marked a transition to a non-linear, non-level-based structure paradigm based on skill unlocking, added a full action-rpg equipment menu, AND began with a retelling of the previous' installment endgame.

I love the Illusion ones >>2760074 >>2760167 and Astérix >>2760016 (which is also an exclusive, BTW), but the best game in the entire catalogue has to be Wonder Boy III

Never played Monster World IV, but Dragon's Trap and WB in Monster World sure played like Metroidvanias to me. What's the distinction?
