The problem with a lot of older games is if you leave your server open it'll get invaded with raging BRs/Mexicans who do nothing but hack.

That's how SA:MP died.

I'm not sure if it would be the same for Doom, but you really have to be careful with games that can be played on a wide range of systems. Especially ones that are easy to pirate.
