>having this much of a trouble trying to play a game
Just play the original "Earth Bound Zero" prototype that leaked ages ago and that is the one most people played. It's an official NoA translation and the game was pretty much finished, in fact more finished than the original Famicom title since it includes an actual ending scene (which was later included on the GBA port, in fact, GBA Mother 1 is basically the NoA EB Zero in terms of censorship, map layour and also having the full ending).
The censorship isn't that big of a deal imo, just crosses and some blood in some enemies. Oh and cigarettes. The translation work is not as good as Earthbound and I'm sure Tomato's translation is better, in that case I would understand people preferring Tomato's, but honestly the original one was fine, got the work done, and IMO it's still interesting to play through a game that was almost released officially. If the game came out officially, likely the dialogues would be 99% the same.
Avoid Easy Ring and other game-breaking fuckery, you don't need that. If you like to fuck around with romhacks and the like, that's fine but I think for playing a game like this for the first time, getting the original experience is the way to go, don't taint your experience with hacks that remove the original graphics or fuck up the pacing.

>Same with the music, Mother 2 has a lot of variety and great experimental music, using a lot of samplin techniques to produce trippy music, that goes along well with the background graphics during battles, or the colorful towns and bizarre locations like Moonside.
Mean to add that while Mother 1 has less amount of music and no sampling technique, it still created some of the most memorable tunes in the franchise. Mother 2's music is more about the sound, the different textures and weird effects, Mother 1 is more melody-driven.
Not to say 2 doesn't have great melody-based songs, like all the towns tracks, but IMO none of them is as memorable as Pollyanna or Bein' Friends.
The lullaby version of Polyanna that plays on Ness' house is pretty cute though.

While it's not a spectacle, it's certainly not bad for 8-bit standards.
