I have a few times. However the 10-player mode is only on that map, while 8-player has more interesting field variations with soccer goals, conveyor belts, tunnels, etc. Besides, Kinu (lower center left in your image) is an imbalanced character there to the rest and not advisable to choose for fairness to other players.

Saturn Bomberman. I actually did use the Saturn's multi-tap though, and it was great fun with friends. I kind of prefer the non-polygonal Bomberman games, since the abstract othrographic look, to me, feels more balanced. At perspective, the areas at the top/back of the playfield seem less focused than the area at the bottom/front to me.

Enjoying a good game with friends. It is simple, easy to introduce to others, and can be enjoyed on one screen which was great for low income fun. It is adjustable with its varying stages, available item selection flags, team formations, and we can collectively agree on some house rules. It may be the same game, but it is just a chill time with friends.

There are puzzle games like Panic Bomber. I remember there's not just Bomberman, but B-daman, and even guest characters from other Hudson properties like Bonk, Kinu, Master Higgins, etc.

It is unfortunate that the game is not designed for you, but there's probably plenty of other games out there that you can enjoy. It is more in line with the kinds of games I enjoy, and I am fortunate to have had friends who also enjoyed the Bomberman gameplay.

I had a lot of fun with the Saturn one with friends. Sadly the Genesis one got the least play since we did not have a multi-tap for the system back then, but it is supposedly a lot like '94 on PCE which we did enjoy.

Saturn Bomberman is my favorite for sticking with the classic 2D looks and great 7 player +1 bot matches my friends and I played back then. We did not have to worry as much about being at least 2 meters away from one another back then. I never got to use the Genesis multitap, so that was a missed opportunity, but from how it plays, I would say you cannot lose with any Bomberman game, as they are all fun with friends, since online does diminish that forcing revenge bomber to be toggled off. Mega Bomberman is pretty good since it is pretty much the excellent Bomberman '94 on PC-Engine. Maybe once the pandemic clears, we could all enjoy it again.

The 2D ones. Personally, I don't like the polygon rendered ones even in the orthographic view. I think with certain parts visually "larger" (appearing somewhat closer) like the bottom of the playfield just encourages players to flow in that direction instead of leaving the whole field relatively equal visually, giving the impression that all spaces has no greater or not much more weight/value than other spots.

I only had one multi-tap for the Saturn in those days, so it was a 7 player plus 3 bots for the 10 player widescreen map.

>>4136531
It was fun adding some chaos to the field. I wish there were more map variations than the 1 for the 10-player mode. That's why more often we all opted for the 7-player plus 1 bot 8 player mode instead for the variety of maps.

Yeah, all my friends no longer play Bomberman with me. They've all moved on and play Overwatch or Bioware RPGs exclusively, so even if I get the Switch with the new game, they'd rather stay at home. They all abandoned the Bomberman series, but I guess if they get drunk enough, I will at least have the controllers ready for a go.

I've only ever played Saturn Bomberman with friends. Since I only had 1 multitap, we played 7 players, plus 3 bots for 10 player mode, but I like 7 players +1 bot for the 8 player maps better as they have more variety.

>>3908837
I imagine the other versions would be amazing too as the fundamental gameplay of vs mode is relatively the same. However, I do favor the grid 2D grid view rather than a slightly in-perspective 3D view, since it makes it look like the top and bottom of the playfield are equal. I guess I kind of prefer the abstract view, as my mind is too old to process the newfandangled 3D.

Ooooh! The gold shiny version. So it has extra stages? I want, but probably cannot afford it.

I just took a quick look at US eBay, the US version seems to go for $90 disc only, and $225 complete! I am so surprised, because I got it new from Best Buy's clearance section for $30 new. I can't give it up despite that amount would help me financially, but I had too many good memories playing with friends and strangers with the game. It brings a whole party together. Good times.

So for not vr ... how do you think of the game if it had class based specializations?

I want the Japanese one, but it is too expensive.

Love the other two.

The company which makes the Retron, Hyperkin, did make hardware clones with the Retron 1, 2, and 3, but their 5 system switched over to be an android based stolen emulation/frontend machine. So the 5 was shit in my eyes, plus it was not affordable, unlike the Retrobit Super Retro Trio which was $50USD (and I will admit that too was a regret purchase, only somewhat justified by my now purchase of cheap Chinese bootleg games in >>3729778 image).

I will say that Hyperkin does make a 6-button Genesis controller called the GN6 available in a USB or DB9 (Genesis, Master System, 2600 port) which is 95% close to a real US Sega Genesis controller. That is superior to those Chinese bootleg "Fighting Putt" which is 2% like the real thing (possibly some of the worst controllers I've used), funny enough that video I linked earlier about the clone consoles shows off a "Fighting Putt" when talking about a Genesis 6-button pad about 08:39 in (which is godawful and surprising the guy compliments it).

So bootleg Chinese /vr/ stuff are hit and miss to me.

I am with >>3479918 but I am fine with all the randomness since they add to some variety and may give others a chance.

I think it is always the surprise when I can jump with a particular rooey in time with an explosion to avoid a blast and retain my "hit buffer".

I just do not like it in say the Xbox 360 version where revenge bombers can swap in with a frag, which causes some online groups of about 3 or more to just kill themselves off the bat and the remainder of players playing fairly on their own having no space to escape. While it is a sound strategy for exploiting a flaw in that particular version's game design. Sadly with revenge bomber turned off, no one wants to stay in a game if they are so stupid to kill themselves off the bat. I see it as a group of kids cannot skill their way to victory and just trolls any player that wants to play the game. I think it is fair the game series died with modern-ish online.

I only have '94 on PSN because my TurboDuo cannot play Japanese HuCards (CDs are fine).

Some people are fortunate to have others enjoy games around them, I'm just not as fortunate but I do have a lot of single player games to enjoy too.

The method in which I store my controllers is nowhere near as dramatic as a refrigerator. Basically they are all in those thick plastic storage cases you can get at Costco. The majority of controllers, after I clean them inside and out (Walmart 91% isopropyl, water/pine sol mix/ towels/q-tips and new cheap toothbrush), as you see in my pictures, I store them in Ziploc bags which then goes into boxes assigned per system with leftover silica packs from other stuff I buy. I basically just want to keep the controllers relatively dust/dirt/bug free until the next time I use them.

>>3438350
I would suggest against that, and only buy the controllers you will use instead of just collecting. Since I have all my controllers not because of any collecting reasons, but rather paranoia. See, I played fighting games heavily on GGPO, and I finally broke a Sega Saturn controller after years of intense use (GGPO, emulation, and Sega Saturn itself). My ability in the games is still average, but I did feel I reached another level, and there was a joy in that. Thus, the Sega Saturn controller suits me best due to familiarity and its own technical engineering/ergonomics. I realize there are a finite amount of Saturn controllers, so I got a few more just in case. Bought/tried cheaper alternatives and found they will not do. As most my personal experience has conditioned me to get stock controllers or Hori ones resembling other controllers. Unless you have the console and play games on them, don't just get controllers to get them.

As for the pic, it was originally intended to be all my 6-button Genesis/Mega Drive pads, which are close to the Saturn pad. Then when no one responded, I converted it to a Bomberman pic and threw in some clone Genesis controllers. Reposting pic because I got to go to work.

Since no one is replying on the controller thread, I converted the pic to a Bomberman one. I wish I had friends to play alongside me. They are all on Xbox One playing Overwatch now (admittedly my penis does approve of Tracer). Until I mod my US TurboDuo to play Japanese HuCards (or get enough money for a Turbo Everdrive), I only have Bomberman '94 on my Japanese PSN account.

I do not know why I do not like the polygon rendered Bomberman games like the one on Dreamcast (the N64 ones were quest/puzzle and great though). I am guessing it is because my old mind cannot adapt to how the bottom of the field has slightly visually larger elements due to some perspective, thus drawing my eyes towards that portion of the field, opposed to the abstract grid view of the classic titles where the top and bottom are relatively equal to my mind.

If you don't mind sports games (most on /vr/ don't like them but I do), NBA Jam and WWF No Mercy are pretty fun multiplayer games.
