On a certain level I think there's a sense in respecting a "dibs" system, not because I feel anyone should own or, but it just seems like it would be better for everyone if potential translators spread out and worked on different projects. That way more shit actually gets translated rather than everyone just doing the same game. The problem however, is that so many of these potential translators want to call "dibs" then sit on their ass for years at a time. And I get as a fan project there shouldn't be a HARD dead line but if so much time passes and another group can get the work done faster then they should by all means really be allowed to do so. I can respect a need for patience but if years go by and there's nothing to show then I think it's fair to put the game back up in rotation.

"Preservation" has always been such a BS excuse to start with. It's just what whiny greedy little babies cry when they try to justify themselves or can't have something. And don't get me wrong I'm not against piracy or anything, I'm sure as fuck not gonna pay scalper ebay prices for an old video game I'll play for 12 minutes before shelving. But this was NEVER about preservation. It's about wanting to play the games without having to pay retard prices for software old enough to be some posters dads. And I really wish these so call "preservationists" would stop deluding themselves into thinking they're saving some art. These were mass market toys and the world isn't worse off if they're not collected. Just admit you want them for free because prices are bullshit and be honest. Pirate games but do it honestly.

This bites. I remember when the internet was a vast and wild frontier where people could exchange information and ideas. Where things were preserved and saved. Now thanks to corporate monopoly and greed everything is becoming lost never to be seen again so the suits can feed us garbage and expect us to pay for the privilege.

Why is it so hard to get a proper GITS adaption that properly captures the look and feel of the manga. Oshii took the fun out and SAC was dryer than an Arizona heatwave.

I don't like online gaming. I like playing with people, and I liked playing in the arcades with people, but sit me down in front of a console and tell me Im playing someone on the other ass end of the country and I get nothing out of it. It's too impersonal. With face to face competitiveness you had that human element but to just play someone online is such a sterile, faceless and, forgive the meme, "Soulless" experience I just can't bring myself to care. I care about beating my friends, I care about beating that other kid down at the corner market who acted like he was hot shit for spamming Blanka's electricity but I don't care about someone Ill never meat whose name I won't remember as soon as I log off.

So I don't like how much of gaming is dependent and defined by online play.
