Entirely depends on what you're after in a game, really.

Both have their good points. I'll always prefer D2 cause that just suits my raging autism, but I try to do a play through of D1 once a year or so, it's such a visceral experience.

Compared to D3 both are snail-pace-with-eyes-closed.

it's so worth it, at least once. You really gotta immerse yourself into it though and take your time. It is a short game, too.
