I don't know about difficulty differences but I will tell you of one trick that makes arguably the hardest RE game into a pretty amusingly easy game

the way the knife works(at least in the PS2 version)is that it can have multiple hits per slash if pointed downwards depending on the hitbox, so if you just downward slash at zombies, they'll fall over, and if you downward slash at a fallen zombie, you'll get a good 4-6 hits in one slash

that trick was a godsend for beating the game, even if the C-130 cargo bay tyrant fight and the final alexia fight were actual suffering

despite all its alleged flaws, I really do love CV/X
