why don't more companies reprint their old games?

the obvious answer is so that they can push people to buy new sequels or full priced remakes over clearanced original copies.

but square enix has no problem selling new final fantasies, and selling full priced ports and remakes, while those old games are still available for purchase on the original discs, on their website.

even then, nintendo specifically could absolutely sell reprints for the original MSRP. I really can't think of a huge reason for studios to not take advantage of this.
at least the studios who could print the specialized media
