So you can't even explain your own exploit? Alright, I'll just make the assumption it's the classic loop and write it out for anyone reading since apparently you can't.

>player who can't normally planar bind / ally / gate / wish / etc. acquires candle of invocation
>uses the candle to Gate in three Genies
>Genies can 1/day cast wish
>wish for two things, save last one for new candle of invocation

Frankly, I always found just being a mid-level caster using Planar Ally / Binding to be more effective. You'd need to be about that level to get a candle anyhow. But hey, it's your "unbeatable exploit."

Example 1: The player gets to his third wish and discovers that Efreeti had already granted his wish for the day and has none available for the player. Whoops.

Example 2: The player receives a burnt out Candle of Invocation that was destroyed from a Mordenkainen's Disjunction.

Example 3: The candle is stolen from another Mage / Lich / whatever who furiously begins scrying for it.

I mean, I could go on and on and on. Anyhow, there's your unbeatable exploit, there are several different ways of handling it beyond childishly stamping your feet and throwing the player off the table. A good DM always finds an in-game way of handling it, a bad one just bans people and things.

Anyhow, all of this is non-retro and I'm not looking to piss the mods off anymore than I already have. So as of this post, I'm bowing out of the tabletop conversation.

>Pure Rogues on the other hand are really crappy
Highest damage potential in the game is a Thief's sneak attack. And there is literally no more broken a mechanic than Thief traps.
