I'm trying to show games from my childhood to a niece to maybe get her into real gaming that isn't overwatch and five nights at freddy's and I need something that will suit a zoomer attention span, basically.

Hell, there's plenty of games I wouldn't go back and play even with an adult attention span and patience. Game design back then was all over the place.

My favorite bad game

So I remember playing this game as a kid, and it was BALLS hard, to the point where the game's very own manual came with a full guide to beat the first level. I don't think I even beat the third level as a kid because the checkpoints were so far apart and it made you do some straight bullshit jumps.

But I fired it up today, and it's easy as fuck. Am I remembering it wrong, or is this one of those games they neutered through region changes? Or was the PAL release just straight up unfinished? I noticed a lot of stuff I don't remember being in it when I was a kid, like the little tutorial screens.

Anyway, whatever. This game is underrated, nice graphics for the time and a really surprisingly high quality soundtrack. Very Tim Burton kinda feel to it.

Dad goes to blockbuster right after work. I tell him about Jersey Devil game because the demo was good.
He forgets the name and only remembers there is a rodent animal on the cover. Brings home Bubsy 3-D. Dammit!

Distributing some courtesy (You)s to games I poured a ton of hours in as a lad. This also seems like the thread to ask about a game on the PS1 I can't name. It was a bigger action game where you controlled various army vehicles in an attempt to fight off aliens. IIRC the alien vehicles had a white aesthetic. You had to destroy enemy vehicles and bases to win the round. People always seem to think I mean Colony Wars, but it was set on the ground and you could switch your controlled vehicle on the fly, à la Battlefield's hotswapping mechanic. Pic unrelated
