Hardcore Sam fan here. Serious Sam 3 has a lot of soul but Croteam lacked confidence in just making a Sam game so they bogged it down in stupid underground sections and the pitifully slow first few maps, which still have some good fights like the end of map 1, map 2, and map 3. Map 4 with all the street kleer battles is when Sam begins to show its true face, and from A Silent Riddler on, besides the underground sections, Sam 3 is a true Serious Sam experience. I definitely think if you dislike 3 you should revisit it because it's a great game when it IS one if that makes sense. 4 is...good and I can say a lot about it but 4 is far away from being a tech demo. It just didn't have a lot of heart no doubt due to Serious Engine 4 problems and Alen Ladevac leaving, one of the founders of Croteam.
