Like he said, drifting in early Ridge Racer games up to Rage Racer only has an on and off state for its drifting mechanic. It is not like modern kart racers, Burnout-likes and "brake 2 drift" games where you steer hard and brake to slip out of control then counter steer through the turn. It took me like a decade to figure out early Ridge Racer. The easiest way to explain it is this. You steer into the corner then literally tap (FUCKING TAP) the brake to activate the drifting state/animation, then your car will snap to a literal rail. Now you are playing Tony Hawk and imagine there is an invisible balance meter. Your goal is to not hold down any directions because you would bail like in Tony Hawk as the balance is now fucked. What you want to do is make sure the wheels are pointing straight when you exit the turn and it will end the drifting state/animation by itself. However I still haven't figured out Rage Racer because there is a small chance your car will slow down to a crawl even when doing this correctly. But then again your actual real goal in Ridge Racer games is to never drift in the first place and just slice through the racing line when possible. I wish I could record some examples with an input overlay.

Not OP but I had these bootlegs when I was a kid. Because they were affordable, your parents would just buy you all of them. From this thread, I remember Raystorm, ChoroQ, Ghost In The Shell, Battle Arena Nitoshinden, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, Rage Racer, Tobal, Star Gladiator, R-Type Delta, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 2, Crash 2. It was truly a golden age when you can just buy random shit and they're most likely good games.

Calling all Ridge Racer players, I want your honest opinion on:

>Rage Racer
>Ridge Racer 64
>Ridge Racer V

Describing why it sucks or it's good would be a plus.

Showing off perspective correction with a level that has virtually no textures, nice one. If we're doing this then I'll post some PGXP too.

I couldn't get OBS to record my Pete's OpenGL plugin whether it be ePSXe or PCSX-PGXP so I switched to Dxtory and it was 100% perfect.
