Anyway talking about video games i am kind of out of touch but minus Hotline Miami 1-2 far cry blood dragon and Drift stage , i don't see many 80's style video games. so the market is kind of nonexistent or really niche.
You can try your hand in small project for example to see if some students aren't doing a project like this.
You can check Gamagora (lyon) or ENJMIN i had some of their students in internship some years ago when i was still working into the viday industry and they looked serious enough for students at least but that was like 7 years ago so i don't really know now sorry.
