He's literally the most Overpowered character, mogs everyone at Magic, all his spells single-handedly deals far more damage than any others, and once one of your party member dies he has a fucking weapon who can deal as much damage as a double, even triple techs. And he can literally just Ban enemies when he feels like it if they're close enough. And the Dark matter is the strongest spell in the entire game. His only downside is he has no heal spells and can't triple tech with holding a stone but at this point he doesn't even need to triple tech lmao

After you defeat Magus the party confronts him about it and was under the assumption that Magus in fact created Lavos. Magus then explains that he didn't create Lavos but instead was only summoning him.

I miss when JRPG storytelling was bold enough to present such nuance.

Janus was always a shit though. The conundrum of recruiting Magus or not is such a coin flip. On one hand you get to best a character who's been insufferable for the entirety of the game, but on the other you also have the option of gaining a powerful spellcaster and getting to see some of his minor interactions with other characters.

Magus just kind of doesn't get a good ending no matter what happens.
