SotE and Mario 64 were the first two games I got with my N64 on release. It was the first fully 3D star wars shooter I saw before Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2.

3rd and 1st person mode while on foot, on rail shooting sections, as well as land speeder and the capstone space dogfight at the end made for a pretty well-rounded and memorable star wars action experience at the time.

For me, the novelty probably made up for the uninspired levels or poor game design choices. When compared to titles that came along like Turok, and smash-hit Goldeneye, SotE felt unfinished in many respects, but that may have been the choice of game engine to support the different game modes they had. None of that dissuaded my friends from wanting to borrow it for a playthough. Lol.
