Thing is - I'm too fucking good for this brain-dead combat system. It offers not only no challenge, since AI is fucking retarded and runs toward your positions, but also lacks any sort of variety or creativity on your side. It's just "arm your squad with AR and gun down everything that even tries to get close".

He doesn't and you are still retarded. You start the game with 35 + AG as your Small Guns, giving you a "whooping" 45% maximum. That means your skill is trash, unless you tagged it (and it's still trash if you did) to another "whooping" 65%.
And then there are Guns & Bullets issues that can raise at this stage your skill by 4-5%. Oh look, the Vault Dweller read a book or two in the Vault about how guns operate and maybe a manual for the 10mm pistol! What a total gunslinger!
