There's something uniquely terrifying about being chased through a hedge maze by an invincible enemy.

Don't mind me, just being the scariest thing to happen in any Castlevania game ever.

CV64 and Lament of innocence had some fun moments.
CV64 is the one that feels the most like Castlevania in 3D, it has the right enemies, the right settings, the whole dual protagonists like in Rondo of Blood each with their own story.

But CV in 2D set the bar way too high and it's hard to make it work on 3D.

I didn't like LoS though.

>which I have never played but heard its not so great

A lot of people enjoyed Castlevania 64, me included. It isn't a perfect game, but the good stuff makes up for the shortcomings (mainly the camera which is a common issue with most 3rd person action games at the time)

Yeah, it also lacks a dedicated jump button and proper platforming sections.

Castlevania 64's camera is actually not THAT bad, in fact, you can switch between 3 different camera styles, and adjust the camera to the back of your character bu pressing R (the same as in Zelda when you press Z), but the problem comes in some tricky platforming sections where the camera can't be adjusted and it becomes hard to tell the distance.

Oh please this guy <- hahahahahaha NO. NOT COOL KONAMI gave me nightmares for days. and not to mention when I walked to school and saw a dog I would talk to myself in my head saying' It's just a game, chill out!' but YES true, The game's atmosphere was done so PERFECTLY. And this is done in generation 5. When you play fucking Call of Duty it doesn't feel atmospheric at all! That's saying something.
