Indeed, were, because you must not have played many Duke3D usermaps past 1997. Granted, it's true that city levels are still proeminent (it is duke3D after all..) but there is a bit of everything; and some "city" levels have enough variety to theme to make worth it. If you check a city level by Alejandro (like this one http://dukerepository.com/maps/Another_Timeless_Night ) and one by MRCK (like this one http://dukerepository.com/maps/Happy_Hangover , don't mind the screenshots using the awful High Resolution Pack); and then check a third by William Gee (maker of WGRealms2) http://dukerepository.com/maps/WGCity ; you'll see how little they have in common.

But even back in 1997 there were quality maps with more original themes, like for example Mike Beaulieu's maps like Legends 2 http://dukerepository.com/maps/Legends_2 . Btw this map was made by one of the mappers from Sunstorm Interactive and he kept making usermaps for Duke3D even AFTER turning pro for them.

What I love the most about Shadow Warrior is its deathmatch. I've played a lot of FPS deathmatch in my life, Q3A/QL, UT, Duke3D; etc but deathmatch in Shadow Warrior is the most fun FPS deathmatch I've ever had. It's criminally underrated. People also fail realize how Duke3D can be the FASTEST FPS deathmatch existing, too bad that Dukematch is ruined by the vast majority of great players playing only in 3 or 4 stock maps while only using the shotgun/rpg while constantly using steroids and jetpack. They've ruined the fun of dukematch with their bullshit.

GoG is the original game under dos.
Megaton is based on a sourceport. The graphics are different, it's true 3D 32-bit.
Also quite a lot of (quality) usermaps which go beyond the old sector limit are playable with Megaton but not with the original game.
Also Megaton has online.

Sadly I doubt that's gonna happen but I'd love it.
Believe me or not, but Shadow Warrior is the most fun I've EVER had in deathmatch, and I've play quite a fuckton of deathmatch in my life (duke3D, quake 3/live, all the UTs, etc)

Don't think so... Which is a shame because I consider Shadow Warrior's deathmatch some of the greatest FPS deathmatch I've ever played in my life. As much as I love DN3D, SW is better in DM.
