I still consider it an immersive sim more than anything else. Or like Space Station 13: Really granular and nuanced gameplay backed by a more ridiculous setting.

I still think it's more than possible to make a more fast paced and actiony gameplay with reloading, it's just a matter of tweaking the weapons to compliment that, and to also make the act of reloading an enjoyable and mechanically sound one.
It's why I got I plans for a set focused around magazine based reloads, so the weapons will hit hard and shoot fast, but reloading is going to be something you need to commit to with the magazine based system.

Less is more. You need to show self restraint and discipline. I only run a gameplay mod and a monster mod at the very most. If I'm feeling particularly saucy I'll throw in corruption cards, but that's my limit.
Unless I'm playing HD, then I add some extra shit on top of that, though that's because a lot of the fun stuff I want is spread out between a bunch of packs.
