I love F-Zero, it's one of only 4 games we owned for SNES, and as of recently I've beaten each league on expert and master, finishing first in every track. It's a great game.

It's also a very unorthodox racer. In fact, the best strategy to use does not make sense in the context of it being a race, so you're better off thinking of it as an arcade game!
TIPS FOR BEATING THE GAEM:
1. Pick Captain Falcon, because he is the best for *almost every track*. The fatties lose their speed when in tight bits (e.g. Death Wind 2!) and aren't as manoeuvrable. Yellow is too weak and slow.
2. Your opponents are _moved_forward_ when they drop past a certain distance behind you. Do not try to extend your lead while in first. Do not use S's if in first. Do not ever take short cuts (Silence) while in first.
3. The S provides perfect acceleration to top speed: use it after your speed is low or while going through blackened ground.
4. The ramps cause a quick acceleration, but then lower-than-usual top speed. Don't use while fast; while slow, use it and press up to shorten it, then down before touching ground for smooth landing. On certain tracks you can take a small shortcut, but it's never necessary.
5. Avoid obstacle cars if possible by taking a wide arc around them, but consider them as "probably trying to hit me". If a collision is certain, don't avoid it but bash him away, the filthy motherfucker.
6. Brake early, then use maximum turning power on tight or U- bends. Accelerate out of it, just like a real car.
