>Stay away from the PAL version of Sonic Mega Collection. Horribly slow garbage.

The Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Collection is fair game though, since not only does it include options for 60Hz and progressive scan 480p, but the 50Hz is correctly timed (although with skipped frames), but of course that isn't even an issuein the US release. It's also the only collection I know except Sonic Jam that doesn't emulate the YM2612 and features all pre-recorded audio. Which means music and sound effects play independently and as such do not overwrite each other, allowing for a somewhat nicer experience (you can even remove the DVD and keep playing with no music, giving you the chance to provide your own). I don't remember if included actual save-states, but there is definitely a way to save the game, or at least the stage in games that didn't come with such a feature. There are also various interviews/concept art/cheats tables and even some unlockableemulated arcade classics to entice you, all in all a great release.

Here's the kicker though, the input lag is far from ideal, especially for fast paced games, and the way the screen works is strange, since you can expand it both horizontally and vertically, like you would do with PS1 games on the PSP/Vita, but there's no way to make it completely full screen devoid of overscan. No 240p option either, so flickering sprites will have interlacing artifacts unless you go 480p.
