Your meme picture is definitely a lie, but some retro games really do look better on a CRT.

This image is a pretty good example on my old Sony Trinitron. PS1 Diablo normally looks like ass on an emulator and monitor, but with the natural color bleeding that comes with older TVs like this it actually looks great (for its age).
