My father was a pinball wizard and, in the days when you could rack up an infinite number of free games, he'd always leave 99 free games for the next guy to come along.

There was an arcade across from the building where my father worked, and every night after work he'd spend an hour or two there unwinding, playing pinball. He only ever spent a single quarter, and could play as long as he wanted on it. The arcade owner hated him and two went to war. Each day my father would come in to find the pinball game he'd played the day before had been jacked up to a higher angle, had bumper strength reduced, the flippers weakened, and the spinners all tightened. He'd still rack up free games, and the next day the machine would be made even harder. After months of this, every pinball game in the building was practically impossible to play and tilted up so high that the slightest jiggle from pushing the flippers would cause the machine to tilt.
