The setting and presentation are excellent but the gameplay stinks. Battles are too slow, and trance is stupid. The fixed roles are OK but learning skills from gear is not, and often just gets in the way of using new gear you just got. I hated being locked out of most maps at the end, but I guess FF8 turned that into the status quo.

What really pissed me off was all the missable garbage that wasn't even fun to get (fuck rope skipping, hippaul, the coffee crap, etc etc), and the autistic card game.

I just sharked the time back to 0, fuck your shit I'm not rushing through a RPG.

Every character follows a simple theme, which is part of what makes 9 the greatest main FF series game of all time.
