Google has failed me, or I probably didn't come up with a clever enough search term...

My question: is there an established method to modify a NES cartridge that uses battery-backed saves to instead use flash-based saves, somehow?

Or SNES cartridge, though I'm pretty sure they stopped using battery-backed saves by the end of the NES's lifespan.
